Since 2019 the kilogram has been defined by the Planck constant rather than a metal cylinder in Paris, making it reproducible in any properly equipped laboratory.

The avoirdupois ounce is 1/16 of a pound. It should not be confused with the troy ounce used for precious metals, which is about 10% heavier.
