Privacy Policy

This policy explains what happens to information when you use DailyCalc at thedailycalc.com. It is written to be read, not to be survived. If anything here is unclear, ask and it will be clarified.

The short version

The numbers you type into a calculator never leave your device. Every calculation runs in your browser. We have no user accounts, we ask for no personal details, and we operate no database of visitors. What we do collect is anonymous traffic measurement and, once advertising is enabled, the advertising data described below — both of which you can refuse.

What we never collect

• Anything you enter into a calculator — salary, loan balance, weight, medical dates, or any other value. These are processed entirely in your browser's memory and are discarded when you close the tab.
• Names, email addresses, phone numbers or postal addresses. There is nowhere on this site to enter them.
• Payment details. The site is free and takes no payments.
• Files. Nothing is uploaded.

Stored on your device

Three preferences are kept in your browser's local storage. They stay on your device, are readable only by this site, and are never transmitted to us:

• Theme — whether you chose light or dark.
• Currency — the currency symbol used in financial results.
• Consent — your answer to the cookie banner, so you are not asked repeatedly.

Clearing your browser's site data removes all three.

Analytics

With your consent we use Google Analytics 4 to understand which calculators are used and how visitors reach the site. It records pages viewed, an approximate location derived from a truncated IP address, referring website, and general device and browser characteristics.

Alongside page views we record a small number of events describing how the site is used: which calculator or conversion was used, whether a result was copied, and which currency was selected. These carry the name of the tool and nothing else. No value you enter into a calculator is ever included — not a salary, a weight, a loan balance or a date.

One exception is worth stating plainly: if you use the search box at the top of the site, the words you searched for are recorded, truncated to 60 characters, along with which result you chose. This is how we learn which calculators people look for and cannot find. It is the only text you type that is sent anywhere, and it is sent only if you have consented to analytics.

Analytics storage is denied by default. If you refuse, Google receives anonymous, cookieless signals only. You may also install Google's opt-out browser add-on to prevent Analytics on every site you visit.

The site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages, so Cloudflare processes each request as our infrastructure provider and handles the IP address it arrives with, in the ordinary way any web host does. It sets no cookies of its own here, and Cloudflare Web Analytics is not enabled — no Cloudflare measurement script is served with these pages. Google Analytics, described above, is the only analytics on this site.

Advertising

This site is intended to be supported by advertising through Google AdSense so that the calculators can stay free and require no sign-up. When advertising is active:

• Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites.
• Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this and other sites on the internet.
• You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings.
• You may opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info or the NAI opt-out page.
• Where required, third-party vendors may use non-personalised advertising instead, which relies on general context and coarse location rather than your browsing history.

Refusing advertising cookies does not remove ads. It means the ads you see are chosen from the page you are reading rather than from your browsing history.

A full list of the cookies used, what each is for, and how long it lasts is on the cookie policy page. You can change your choice at any time using the Cookie settings link in the footer.

Legal basis and your rights

Where the UK GDPR or EU GDPR applies, our legal basis for analytics and advertising cookies is your consent, which you may withdraw at any time. Strictly necessary storage rests on legitimate interest in operating the site.

Because we hold no account, no identifier of our own and no database of visitors, we usually cannot connect any request to a specific person. Requests concerning data held by Google should be directed to Google, whose privacy policy and partner-sites notice describe how it processes data from sites like this one. You retain the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us and it will be deleted.

International transfers

The site is served from Cloudflare's global network, so pages may be delivered from a server near you anywhere in the world. Analytics and advertising data may be processed by Google in the United States and elsewhere under its own safeguards.

Changes

If this policy changes materially, the date at the top is updated and, where the change affects what you consented to, the cookie banner asks again rather than assuming your earlier answer still applies.
